Michael Monroe

There are two musicians with the name Michael Monroe. One of them has also formed a band called Michael Monroe.
1) Michael Monroe (Matti Fagerholm, born on June 17, 1962 in Helsinki -) is a Finnish rock musician. He's best known as the singer of Hanoi Rocks . His characteristics are bleached blonde hair, feminine make-up and glamorous fashion. Personally he has released 6 solo albums & 1 live album: Nights Are So Long, Not Fakin' It, Peace Of Mind, Life Gets You Dirty, Whatcha Want, Sensory Overdrive and Another Night In The Sun: Live In Helsinki. He has also played in Jerusalem Slim and Demolition 23.
In 2010, after Monroe had left Hanoi Rocks, he formed a new band working under his name. The Michael Monroe band features Michael Monroe (vocals), Rich Jones (guitar), Steve Conte (guitar), Sami Yaffa (bass) and Karl Rockfist (drums). The band is working on their first album. In live shows, they will play Demolition 23 and Hanoi Rocks songs in addition to their own material.
Monroe has recorded duets with both Axl Rose and Slash from Guns N' Roses. The song "Dead, Jail Or Rock'n'Roll" from Monroe's 1989 solo album Not Fakin' It had some popularity and aired on MTV. With Slash and Hanoi Rocks bassist Sam Yaffa, Monroe recorded a cover of Steppenwolf's Magic Carpet Ride to "The Coneheads" movie soundtrack.
Monroe has also performed on Guns N' Roses albums, playing saxophone and harmonica on the Bad Obsession from the Use Your Illusion I album and singing on three Beats and Styles songs. He provides vocals on the cover version of The Dead Boys song Ain't It Fun from the album The Spaghetti Incident.
In 2007 Michael Monroe appeared on White Flame's single Swimsuit Issue Centerold, providing vocals as well as his infamous harmonica stylings.
2) Another artist who uses the name Michael Monroe is from Minnesota, USA. His music is a mix of acoustic folk, jazz and reggae.
Regarding 2) above: the artist who is also Michael Monroe from Minnesota in the USA. He is not merely 'using' the name Michael Monroe but was born with that name in 1952. He has toured professionally with his music and his own/real name since 1970. There was no internet to check when Matti Fagerholm assumed the 'Michael Monroe' name for his band many years later. Most of MN/USA's Acoustic Michael Monroe's original music and CDs have been listed on the LAST FM web as written and performed by heavy metal Michael Monroe and that is not the case.
