Modo Stare is the music project led by Jon Headley, a musician, writer and producer from the UK. The music is built around a blend of old and new, electronic and acoustic, synthetic and organic; mixing 100-year old harmoniums with sparkling synthesizers, out-of- tune pianos with growling bass synths, and antique cuckoo clocks with distorted drum loops. The project’s debut full-length album ‘This Is How We Know What Love Is’, is aiming for a late 2013 release. After working on the sound of the project through 2012, in December Jon successfully raised funds to finish it in the studio through a Kickstarter campaign. At the start of this year, as a thank-you to their Kickstarter supporters, Modo Stare released their first EP, the 5-track ‘We Dream Of Mountains’. (It is available as a free download on www.modostare.com).The EP was featured on Noisetrade’s ‘New & Notable’ list and reached their Top Downloads chart. It went international when a South African filmmaker created their first music video, for the song ‘Lud’, which was filmed and edited in Durban. After playing their first live show in June 2013, they won a spot playing Leeds & Reading Festival, one of the UK’s biggest live music festivals.
