Moonshee

Moonshee is a UK-based group active since 2011. It is made up of six artists from the UK and Northern Ireland, and it presents English music in an international context. The band works at the meeting point of eastern and western musical traditions, combining older folk forms with a contemporary approach.

The line-up includes sitar, tablas, South American percussion, Celtic fiddle, harp, and vocals drawing on Indian, Irish and English folk traditions. The group’s sound brings together traditional English music, bhangra, Indian folk, Irish fiddle, harp and layered harmony singing.

The musicians have a shared history of work with Paul Weller, Kumar Bose, Bombay Dub Orchestra, Noel Gallagher and Sir Paul McCartney. Their music is described as a blend of different traditions rather than a single genre, with folk, acoustic, Indian and world influences all present in the group’s style.
