MOVING PANORAMAS are a dream pop and shoegaze group from the United States, formed in 2013 and active since then. The band is based in Austin, Texas and consists of Karen Skloss and Leslie Sisson.

Background

Leslie Sisson, who also plays in The Wooden Birds, and Karen Skloss, who plays in Black Forest Fire, meet in film school and continue together into graduate school. Later, Skloss asks Sisson to step in on bass at short notice for a Black Forest Fire tour, and the two realise they work well together both as friends and as musicians.

At the same time, Sisson teaches music and meets bassist Rozie Castoe, who appears in a show that Sisson directs. Sisson invites Castoe to join her next project, and when their separate projects have run their course, the three decide to form a band together.

Style

The group describes its sound through terms such as dream gaze, with influences drawn from gazey roots and developed into music that is spacious, soft and loud at once, and dreamy without becoming detached. Their name reflects that broad, panoramic quality.
