There are two Artist by the name of Murphy. 1. Murphy is a individual female artist whose genre is Neo-Soul, R&B. Reggae, Gospel and Spoken Words. 2. This Murphy is a Band. 1. Life has taught me many lessons, but one that holds especially true, is that “everything comes full circle”. As a child, I sung as a Rosebud in New Canaan Baptist Church Children’s Choir. I was always mimicking the “local church stars” as they sung the congregation into tears. As I got older, I was in awe over the voices of Anita Baker, Melba Moore, Shirley Murdock and Whitney Houston. Their styles, their statues, but most importantly their messages, where clear and definitely realistic! Other artist like Pat Benatar, Toni Basil, and Annie Lennox also stirred my interest because their styles where so unique. That’s the beauty of music; it transcends the status quo and has no boundaries. I no longer mimic those who came before me, but I’m blazing my own trail for others to follow. I’ve performed at various churches at home and abroad. My poems have been published in Faith and Family’s Rhema Poetry Book (2010) and in the March 2011 edition of the Key Awareness Newspaper. I’ve worked with local producers/artist such as Ben Miles, Rufus Johnson, Amzi Jackson, Min. Bridgette Johnson, and Gwendolyn Price of Alfred Powell and the Kingdom. In 1995, I met DeeTheProducer and we both shared an interest in music and throughout the years, we have never stopped making music. Finally, years later, we can say that we’ve come from the days of a small Casio keyboard and using headphones for a mic, to what is now the beginnings of an innovative and unique record label. In 2010, Dee introduced me to Hyron Ferguson, a musician who shares the same passion as we do.
