Nat Johnson and the Figureheads are a five-piece band based in Sheffield. Their music ranges from sparse acoustic folk-pop twinkling to a full, electric sound encompassing alt-country and indie. They released their debut album, "Roman Radio", in October 2009 on Damaged Goods Records and recorded live radio sessions for Marc Riley, Tom Robinson and John Kennedy in 2010. They released a new EP, ‘What the Heart Pours Into’, on March 7th 2011 on Damaged Goods. Nat Johnson is the former singer, songwriter and guitarist of acclaimed folk-pop band Monkey Swallows the Universe. When MSTU disbanded in 2008, Nat went solo for a short while, releasing a single, 'Dirty Rotten Soul', which Steve Lamacq made his single of the week. Nat then assembled her backing band - Kevin Gori (also of Monkey Swallows the Universe), Chris Loftus, Neil Piper and Emily Gunn - and dubbed them the Figureheads. After all, it’s said to be unlucky to sail a ship without a figurehead. http://www.natjohnson.co.uk http://www.facebook.com/natjohnsonband http://www.soundcloud.com/natjohnsonband http://www.twitter.com/natjohnsonband
