Hailed as one of the freshest sounds to emerge from the UK in decades. Crammed to the brim with originality and talent, NEWRISING is a band that is laying down the foundations for an extremely promising future in British music. This is organically charged music for people who want to feel good, interlacing timeless grooves with rich vocals to deliver a soulful message of self belief and unity. The trio have crafted a colourful full bodied sound that fills a stage with sizzling energy and awakens the primal need to shake your stuff when the beat drops. The infectious hook laden tracks fuse world roots and a mix of styles making the band stand out on the acoustic circuit as something much more than another singer songwriter outfit with a dreary outlook and a day job.
Mashing the barrier between band and audience with direct and effective no nonsense song writing, this is acoustic music at perhaps it’s most emotionally dynamic. Echoes of a grittier urban sound are skilfully entangled with 3 part vocal harmonies to make a crowd stand up and take notice. With an unbelievably strong sense of character binding them together, NEWRISING pilot a genre defying machine that steers violently from the middle of the road.
NEWRISING have been making a name for themselves at some of the UK’s best and biggest festivals including slots at Secret Garden Party, Bestival and a headline slot at their home patch Guilfest, sharing the bill with 10CC. They have also been seen strutting their stuff at prestigious venues such as The Bedford and The Halfmoon, and the Wedgewood rooms to name but a few, with the likes of Los Albertos, Martin Harley, Ed Sheeran , Mungo Jerry and Gino Washington. The band hacked into the airwaves in 2010, being introduced by Tom Robinson on BBC 6 and a live session on BBC southern counties. NEWRISING can also been found in video form on the worldwide acoustic session, Balcony TV, and a whole show just for them on the Cordless Show. Their debut album ‘Awake from Slumber’, receiving a 4/5 star review ‘Rock n Reel’, is available at all good digital distributors alternatively get down to a show and prepare to be blown away.
"Liquid guitar, great flow, sharp groove. Playing so tight you just couldn't slip a Rizla between any of the beats."
Tom Robinson (BBC 6 Music - March 2010)
"There might not be - and may never be - another musical entity like them."
...Alan Clayson (Rock n' Reel - Feb 2010 - 4/5*)
"This is acoustic folk with funk, drive, passion and power. There’s a wealth influence encapsulated in their songs - everything from folk storytelling through Afro-bass bounced funk to blues-influenced angst. Close three part harmonies weave together to create a musical tapestry of colour and depth. Adam lays down the groundwork on which Jay builds his guitar and vocals, while Tom provides a solid anchor for their music."

"Jay Carter stands head and shoulders above so many of the singer-songwriters working the circuit. His effortless groove and red wine vocals never cease to delight."
...Tristan Seume (Guitarist magazine)
"Their musicianship and songwriting skills are first class. You MUST see these guys live- they will blow your mind. One of the best support acts I have had the pleasure working with in over 40 years”.
