Operation Error stepped on stage for the first time at the Rigger venue in Newcastle-under-Lyme on the 18th May 2007. Song writer and guitarist Shaun 'Wink' Winkle, vocalist Steve Ayres, guitarist Jonathan 'JP' Parsons, bassist Jon Gallione and drummer Mat Steele saw positive reaction to that and other support gigs around North Staffordshire and were soon at work in the studio. Their first EP, The Voice of JorEl, included the ever popular 'I am David.' One listener branded the EP as 'Progressive Epic' and in the absence of an established genre to slot into the label stuck. Those tracks and others were gigged north, south, east and west. The ever growing approval of their work prompted a second visit to the studio but the increasingly heavy schedule meant it would be without Jon Gallione. The band and new bassist Stu Blackwood closed out a whirlwind 2007 with the laying down of their second EP Written on the Mirror. This EP maintained the epic nature whilst exposing a more sentimental side with the moving Whisper in the Wind. The EP was launched in early 2008 with the bands first major headline slot at a jam packed Sugarmill in Stoke. The coming months brought excellent reviews and airplay on both BBC local radio and internet radio. The first 18 months of Operation Error had exceeded the expectations of any new band and the decision was made to slow down and concentrate on a debut album. The band continued headlining select local venues as well as providing support to touring bands such as Slaves to Gravity and Sons of Albion. By the autumn of 2009 the recording on the album, entitled A Sign of Faith, was complete and was released online by Revolver Records in May 2010. In addtion 1000 hard copy CD's were pressed with full artwork for sale at gigs and independent music stores.
