The last few years have been without doubt the most amazing, eye opening, terrifying, hilarious, devastating, glorious times in my life. Screaming neighbors, evictions,Near death exprience, bedroom studios, rising damp , drummers living in toilets, broken hearts, broken arms, muggings, many foreign shores.Lost luggage, lost friends, fifteen flats, new love, old love, panic attacks, four day benders, festivals, headaches, good times, bad times, sore throats and music. Always music. I have some photos and a few tired anecdotes to pull from the rubble, but more importantly, I have some songs and a few of my best friends still standing. We form a band of sorts. There is no continuos theme, or grand concept to my writing. At least not one I planned for. There is imagery that repeats itself. Lately death and dreams. Friends. Sometimes regret, often hope. Poor mans philosophy and a lot of good times. Words I meant at the time, the sea and a melody somebody might whistle. A tune to hum, something to do. I truly love music and language and am endlessly grateful I have a job glueing them together Rob Da Bank (BBC Radio 1 / Sunday Best) "proper melodies and Pete has an amazing voice made to make grown Da Banks quiver" Hamish (Breaks Co-op) "Pete Lawrie has a voice that cuts you to the quick... This is the sound of artists waking up. I love it." Adam Walton (BBC Radio Wales) "beautifully crafted, emotionally resonant songs with melodies so beguiling you can hang your heartbreaks on them. An exceptional talent." (Out of Hand magazine) "Beautiful songs, emotional melodies laced with a voice that hurts you and then makes it all better" "He growls like a murderous truck driver, his voice all burnt ochre and autumn leaves. He songs are relentless and intense, bruising cameos of bluesy rock that leave you exhausted and grimacing – but totally in a good way." Some of it was true! (music blog)
