Stemming from London and Lisbon Poeticat are an original mix of honest, thought-provoking poetry and catchy, genre-hopping music. Rebellious, authentic, exciting and theatrical Poeticat’s mind-bending, visceral journey will keep you whistling all the way home. Formed in the summer of 2009 Poeticat started performing with acoustic instruments in order to be able to play anywhere at any time. But then guitarist Baj found some effects pedals hiding in the basement and this changed everything. On a stormy London afternoon in the studio Baj infected Poeticat’s Cajon player, Victor, and vocalist, Ziggi, with the effects-pedal bug. Poeticat have now developed a louder more energetic electric-based set alongside their intimate acoustic act. The band currently play both sets around the UK and have recently released their first EP Bend the Walls. Poeticat adopt a DIY approach to much of what they do from making the music to designing costumes and artwork as well as organising a regular event, Poeticat Presents, to promote other acts they’ve met on their journey who share their aim to create something authentic and unique.
