“Forged in the shadows of the neo-urban sky dwellings of Vancouver, B.C., PRIMES has emerged. Band members Tanya Pea and Jack Duckworth (JJD) make music with an uncanny future industrio techno-punk worldview. Jagged-edged music that would sound at home in sets by Optimo, Justice or other such eclectic music DJ's. This band, keen on cutting-edge technology, has a unique off-kilter sound; the signal is flickering and you can't quite locate it, but you're compelled to continue listening to suss it out.” - MONTY LUKE, XLR8R MAGAZINE The members of Primes converge from a variety of backgrounds. Producing visual environments and conjuring sonic alchemy at raves as Isis alongside the likes of Autechre and Orbital for over a decade, Tanya Pea also releases bleeps + beats solo. Jack Duckworth (JJD) brings his post-punk history into the mix from his years playing in seminal Vancouver bands Radio Berlin and A Luna Red. Together, JJD and Tanya Pea collaborate as The Wax Museum, designing cutting edge graphics and new media for artists worldwide, completing the equation. Primes don’t hesitate to take cold hard looks at the world as we know it with Facades and Pink Forms, although the upbeat programming and occasional sweet vocal deliveries could fool one into thinking otherwise. Recorded by Primes, mixed by Loud Chris Demarcus (Front Line Assembly, Black Halos, Dismantled), with additional production by Ricardo Almeida (Duchess Says, Dandi Wind, Put The Rifle Down) and Erik West (releases on 20/20 Vision Records), this 11 track genre-bending record scratches the surface of Primes’ lengthy future itinerary. With an appearance at the internationally renowned New Forms Festival and an Eastern Canadian/US tour upon the release of Facades and Pink Forms successfully completed, the band has recently relocated from their home in Vancouver BC to the musical metropolis of London, England.
