Railroad Bill are the skiffle kings of Cardiff, having been plying their trade for 20 years now. They have won numerous busking competitions and played in a variety of exotic locations such as Italy and Singapore. Their stage show is raucous and humourous and often forms part of Cardiff's "Meltdown" sessions. They play numerous guitars, mandolin, banjolin, washboard and tea-chest-bass. The songs include a mix of train songs from the old-west, skiffle standards and self-penned songs of a more contemporary kind, but still with that humour and showmanship that makes them a favourite with crowds. The band has two distinct sets that they play - or even two distinct versions of the band: "Traditional Skiffle" and "Electric Skiffle". If you can get hold of their earlier stuff, you'll have unearthed some real treasures.
