Red Shoes is currently an acoustic duo based in Birmingham, England, consisting of Carolyn Evans on Vocals and Guitar and Mark Evans also on Vocals and Guitar. In the early 1980's the group named Red Shoes was a larger band, including Derek Eynon on Bass and Vocals and Nick Milward on Drums and Vocals. The original group had considerable success with several singles and an album, but broke up when Carolyn and Mark took time off to raise a family. In June, 2009, Red Shoes released their first album in their current configuration Ring Around the Land on Cedarwood Records featuring backups by Dave Pegg of Fairport Convention, Chris Leslie, PJ Wright, Megan Evans (Carolyn and Mark's daughter). The album includes Dave Swarbrick's song "White Dress", their version of the Child Ballad "Two Sisters", a song based on Ray Bradbury's "Something Wicked This Way Comes", and a wide variety of other self-penned songs. The album ends with the traditional Morris tune "Shepherd's Hay". As a duo, Red Shoes has had a song featured in the Fatea compilation "Duos", which was made available free of charge for download (http://www.fatea-showcase-sessions.co.uk.) for a limited time in September 2008. .The song "My Father's Green Beret" speaks of the tragedy of Carolyn's father, a decorated WWII veteran, who died due to neglect and unsanitary conditions in an NHS hospital, More information and demos are available at http://www.myspace.com/redshoes1. .
