There are at least two artists who go by the name Remark: 1. Remark, also known by its alter ego Rufus Grimes, is a beatmaker and instrumentalist from Karlsruhe/Leipzig, Germany. Music and illustration are his motivation and passion. His 2011 debut album "Enjoying Mistakes" is a mixture of familiar structures and harmonies and abstract, transcending arrangements. Remark has his roots in the loop based Hip-Hop culture, which he devoted himself to since his youth. Being influenced by rap music of the 80s and 90s and the later emerging trip-hop movement, Remark counts contemporary artists like Prefuse73, Dimlite, Exile, Nosaj Thing, Suff Daddy or Flying Lotus to his inspirations. "I did not chop my samples straight, I did not wipe the dust from my samplevinyl, I did not mix like the teaching book advises me to. I let it sound like I hear it in my head before it is finished. Some would define it as mistakes, to me it is just what I enjoy!" http://remark.bandcamp.com/ 2. A dutch house producer from Rotterdam Roland Kramer got involved with music at early age. He was only eight years of age when he first laid his hands on an organ, rapidly followed by various keyboards. It was only until November 1997 that he released his first record on Black Hole Recordings in cooperation with Superstar Dj Tiësto as the Hammock Brothers. Despite the fact the track did rather well, Roland didn’t want to limit himself to one style. He strives to imprint his own identity and influences to take the music one step further. So he decides to explore the world of musical wonders on his own, as Roland K!
