Solo performer, based in Manchester, who plays guitar and sings (mainly) though is partial to the odd Omnichord – comparisons drawn have been wide and varied including Nick Cave, Frank Black, Bowie, Jeff Lewis, Lee Hazlewood, Scott Walker and Jonathan Richman. Previously frontman of Johnny5thWheel&thecowards (from 2009-2013) and of surf rockers, thee Uncomfortables (2006-2009). Has also played guitar, mandolin, ukulele, Omnichord and sung for FirstnameFrank and Avital Raz & The Chosen Ones. Johnny5thWheel released two full albums through Sotones Records (home to The Moulettes and Anja McCloskey). Their debut ‘TalesOf…’ (2010) was described as a “work of genius” by Whisperin’ & Hollerin’ and named in the top 50 albums of the year by God Is In The TV. The follow up album, ‘Music To Shake’n’Shuffle To’ was also name in the top 50 albums released of 2012, this time by Rocksucker. During this time, Lomax was also commissioned to make the incidental music for “Muppets-meets-Mighty Boosh” radio show, ‘The Me & Perrin Show’ which narrowly missed out on nominations for the Sony awards to the Adam & Joe Show. Thee Uncomfortables were signed to Petrol and Pistol Records and released some singles through them before completing a successful Australian tour in 2008 and several festival appearances. Over the years, Lomax’s various projects have supported a lot of other well known and interesting artist including We Are Scientists, Jamie T, Wave Pictures, Emma Pollock, Curtis Eller, Thomas Truax, Misty’s Big Adventure, My First Tooth and Frightened Rabbit.
