Roger De Courcey (born 1944 in London) is a British ventriloquist known for operating Nookie Bear. He was the winner of the 1976 New Faces television talent competition. De Courcey was originally trained to be an opera singer but developed his ventriloquism whilst working on a musical on the London stage. Nookie ( a quaint English slang for sexual intercourse - though how this relates to a talking teddy bear is beyond the remit of this biography) enjoyed some success on television and the cabaret circuit. His single '' Nookie's song '' came out on Pye in 1976 in a smashing picture sleeve but failed to storm the charts. Roger is still around and if you ask him nicely he might still give you a bit of Nookie.Roger always wore nice jumpers to counter-act his bald head / moustache combination. He could ' gottle-of -gear ' it with the best in the business.
