Having played acoustic music for over 30 years Roy is reluctant to pidgeonhole himself in any one style. In recent years he has become known for a blues based repetoire but there is more to him. Roy has always been a songwriter and out of that has come many styles that are not immediately evident. Early influences included the folk revivalists of the 1960's that made the pop music of the day relatively easy to copy on a solo instrument. To this day he enjoys words and the writing of stories in song - try Just What the Dinosaur Said or Madrid - he is still something of a protest singer on the not so quiet.
