Rugosa Nevada formed in July 2008 in Derby with a sound reminiscent of early U2 and have quickly established themselves at the forefront of the East Midlands music scene with a maturity in sound beyond their years. They have played nearly a hundred shows and festivals and have been featured on BBC East Midlands and BBC 6Music radio. They recorded their first demo in May 2009 at 2fly Studios in Sheffield with the critically acclaimed producer Alan Smyth (Arctic Monkeys, Pulp, Richard Hawley). The alt-rock four piece released their demo on MySpace the day after it was finished and within hours the song 'Haunting' became 'Track of the Week' on the BBC East Midlands Music site. 'Haunting' also became one of the most requested tracks ever on BBC Radio Derby, Nottingham, Lincoln and Leicester music show The Beat. The success of their debut demo landed Rugosa Nevada their first festival slot at the award winning Y-Not Festival where they played to a record crowd. In Summer 2010 Rugosa Nevada recorded a new two track EP. The tracks 'Until Bleeding' and 'Moira Brown' have received major airplay again on BBC Radio and been played over 30,000 times since airing on their MySpace site. Summer 2010 saw Rugosa Nevada reprise their slot at the Y-Not Festival playing to another bumper crowd. The band followed this by playing the Summer Sundae Weekender and have been booked for the upcoming Hockley Hustle Festival in Nottingham.
