RVDS

RVDS is an electronic group from Tours, active since 2013, with Adam Paris listed as the member. The name is associated with Rue vieille du sample. The project has roots in the work of Richard von der Schulenburg, who is born in 1974 and grows up with classical music as a major influence.

Background and development

In 1995, Richard von der Schulenburg moves to Hamburg and begins working as a DJ in bars. After several band projects, he joins Die Sterne in 2000 as keyboardist and goes on to record four albums with the band. Two solo records follow in 2002 and 2004, described by their mix of experimental material and pop elements.

Work in club and theatre settings

RVDS presents a baroque revue at Kampnagel theatre in Hamburg in 2006 and 2007. By the late 1990s, he has some contact with club music, and this interest grows more strongly from 2003. From 2005, he is a resident DJ at the Golden Pudel Club in Hamburg. He also curates themed events built around sets of tracks on a single subject, such as weather or colour.

Recorded output

By 2008, RVDS brings together club music, baroque influences and other musical references in a set of four dance tracks, made with A Different Jimi and released on the label ITS.
