Born in Pontefract, son of nationaly acclaimed blues harmonica player the late Pete Mitchell-Smith, Ryan grew up with blues and jazz and performed with his dad's band for the first time when he was just 12. After his Dad's death in 1998, went on to Derby University and has just gained a Ba (Hons) (First Class) in popular Music and Music tecnology. He set up his own home recording studio and has produced his first album "Broken Bridge" (Reffering to his home town of Pontefract). His Songs are getting rave reviews throughtout the world and cover many styles-jazz, acid jazz, blues, gararge, funk and pop. Plans to start his own band, having just moved into the wakefield area, on the lines of Dave Matthews/Blues Traveller but featuring much of his own material.
