Sam Walker began taking guitar lessons in junior high and quickly discovered a feel and aptitude that allowed him to begin creating his own music and sound during his high school years. The jumps from playing backup to leading group singing in Little Rock schools and worship services were sudden, and Sam began to compose his own songs and seek out chances to perform live shows. From coffee shops and live music events in central Arkansas, Sam branched out and toured across eight states during the summer before his senior year of high school. He rubbed elbows with artists from a variety of backgrounds, and his own sound grew more and more distinct while his increasing skill allowed him to experiment. Sam’s first album, Haunted by Dreams, released in 2007, is a catchy display of his own growth as a musician. While the influence of indie artists Sam has played with on the road is evident, his background in corporate worship music seeps through at times. The surprising element that gives particular freshness to Sam’s music is a distinct folk sound – surprising in that it comes from a young voice such as his. One first time listener described Sam’s music as reminiscent of Simon & Garfunkel. Particularly strong tracks on Haunted by Dreams are Idle Hands, April Showers, and Plight of the Wise One. -Josh Mayfield Sam Walker is a solo artist from Dural, Australia. He has a gift.
