There are at least two artists sharing the name Sanam. 1) An Indian pop-rock band formed in 2010 currently based in Mumbai and 2) an experimental band from Beirut, Lebanon, describing themselves as "free-rock post-folk ". 1 ) Sanam is an Indian pop-rock band formed in 2010 currently based in Mumbai, India known for its renditions of old classic Indian Bollywood songs as well as original music. The band SANAM consists of Sanam Puri (lead vocalist/composer), Samar Puri (lyricist/lead guitar/composer), Venky S, or Venkat Subramaniyam (bass guitar) and Keshav Dhanraj (Drums). The band is amongst India's top 10 independent YouTube Channels, India's biggest music artist on the digital platform, and the fastest growing YouTube channel in the country. 2) SANAM's music is a ritual where improvised rock, free jazz and noise underscore an exorcism of traditional Egyptian song and Arabic poetry. Sandy Chamoun (vocals), Antonio Hajj (bass), Farah Kaddour (buzuk), Anthony Sahyoun (guitar, synth), Pascal Semerdjian (drums) and Marwan Tohme (guitars) bring a myriad of influences gleaned from years performing either solo or as members of influential acts in Beirut’s tight-knit independent music scene (such as Al Rahel al Kabir, Postcards, Kinematik and Ovid).
