Born in County Durham in 1963, mezzo-soprano Sarah Connolly was educated at Queen Margaret's School, York and then studied piano and singing at the Royal College of Music, of which she is now a Fellow. Connolly frequently plays male roles in opera. Sarah Connolly is one of the foremost British mezzo sopranos. Sarah has performed in major opera houses around the world, such as La Scala,The Metropolitan Opera and Glyndebourne. Her concert and recital programmes have taken her to Carnegie Hall, Vienna Konzerthaus and The Concertgebouw. She is also a major recording artist and a Grammy nominee this year in the solo vocal category.
