There is more than one artist called Shapes:
[1] Shapes are a 3 piece band from Birmingham.
SHAPES has been going since January 08. They released their debut EP in May 08 and toured with OK Pilot, and have continued gigging throughout the UK.
Now signed to Big Scary Monsters with their 2nd EP 'The Pasture, The Oil' released May 2009 and plenty more touring on it's way.
"...a passionately convicted music drawing in the power of post-hardcore, the technicality of mathcore and the uplifting fist-in-the-air ethic of punkrock."
[2] Shapes (UK) are a four piece Indie band hailing from Luton. Since their first gig back in April 2007 the lads, Jamie mack (Vocals), Matt Rushton (Guitar), Pete Cordt (Bass) and Brendan Monahan (Drums) have been playing out their razor-blade stuff-strutting angularity to mean effect...
A session at the end of March 2008 at the legendary Maida Vale studio for BBC Radio 1 has seen Shapes join forces with Scottish Tony the man who discovered Mercury Prize Nomintate Electric Soft Parade, and tour manager Mike McCarthy.
[3]"The Shapes" hailed from Leamington Spa in the Midlands. They formed in 1977, but it was not until they released their "Part Of The Furniture" ep on Sofa Records in 1979 that they came to national attention with a session for John Peel on BBC Radio One. They played numerous gigs, including with The Killjoys, The Cure and The Fall. They released a second single in 1980 "Airline Disaster/Blast" Off on Belfast's Good Vibrations label. In 1998 Overground Records released a compilation CD "Songs For Sensible People". Currently The Shapes have a track on Messthetics # 103 released by Hyped2Death records in the U.S.
[4] An alius of alternative artist Will Page based in Kent, experimenting in more ambient and electronic soundscapes. Songs frequently freature drum loops and synth lines rather than guitar/rock-based melodies of other projects. In 2007 several tracks from emerged online from a limited-press self-titled E.P including "Wake Up" which was a minor hit locally.
[5] SHAPES, from New York City recorded their EP I Feel…Therefore I Drink during the summer of 2009 and recorded the single Caterwaul with B-side I’m OK. They have played with bands like Titus Andronicus, Devin Therriault, and The So So Glos. They have a monthly residency at the Personality Crisis event, held at Brooklyn’s Shea Stadium (named in honor of the late Mets stadium) on the last Saturday of every month.
