Sharkbait (one word) was a San Francisco based industrial group active from 1986 to 1996. They were a true industrial band, in the vain of Einstürzende Neubauten, using multiple percussionists in their songs and live performances. Everything from Taiko drums, sheets of metal, oil drums, huge metal springs, and many other tribal percussion instruments were used. On top of the rythmic assault were layers of noise, distorted and manipulated instruments, tape loops, samples, and vocals by multiple singers (male and female). But they were best known for their live shows, which included everything from performance art, sex acts, a fire breather, costumes or nudity (most often both).
