--------------------
Earworm pop hooks with a vaguely sinister and cynical lyrical edge, Sheepy are reminiscent of classic guitar groups such as The Replacements, Super Furry Animals and Pixies. Once a solo project now bedecked by a fully-functioning three-piece line up, Sheepy prove themselves impossible to ignore and bounce along to.

"Sheepy is now a trio, thanks to the addition of Olly and Villy Raze. So now that they've got the tunes, they've got the line-up and they've laid the foundations, there will hopefully be little to stop these superb guitar-pop songs from spreading far and wide. Third single 'Another Day' is the best yet, effortlessly melodic and insatiably moreish, it's one of those songs that you'll wake up singing in your head first thing in the morning, and then you'll know it's going to be a good day; this is catchy and addictive in all the right ways. A mixture of lo-fi, powerpop and post-punk with a massive pop heart beating at the centre. At times it recalls Squeeze, at times it recalls Super Furry Animals, at all times it impresses and gets the serotonin flowing. Resistance is futile, Sheepy could turn into an all conquering indie beast."

"When I read the blurb on this CD I was put off a bit. I don't know why the words, “...has recorded 9 albums in his bedroom in the last 4 years” would do that... I only know that they did. I also know that when I put the CD in, I really, really liked what I heard. The band are called Sheepy - they're a three-piece from Liverpool and they're the outlet for the obviously-very-prolific songwriting talent of Luke Jones. This track's called Another Day and it's ace: "

"Liverpool has become a bit of a hotbed for great guitar pop over the years. This lot are well on their way to joining their predecessors as chart superstars."
"Quite simply a great track from this Scouse lad! Predator is punk-pop roller coaster and we can't wait to hear what else he's got in store for us...Just listen to their exciting new brand of carefree, unpretentious lo-fi indie and watch their awesome low (zero) budget, home-made video...then try and tell us you haven't got a soft spot for them too."

"A psychedelic mid-tempo Mersey-pop song built around irresistible chord changes and a yearning melodious voice. It stands comparison with the greatest pop music to have come from Liverpool. Young songwriter Luke Jones AKA Sheepy has written 13 albums on his computer in the last 5 years and is just now beginning to release his music on London’s cult Blang label. Sheepy’s first single, the punk-pop rollercoaster Predator was picked up by BBC Radio 2 and used on Sky TV’s Soccer AM. Praise for Predator: ‘classic indie-guitar songwriting... the title track has a non-stop, melodic, powerpop rush and undeniable charm. 'Bread And Noodles' is early Super Furry Animals jamming with Teenage Fanclub and is all the better for it. A superb debut and definitely a talent to keep your eye on’ "

"Five songs from Luke Jones, a.k.a. Sheepy, which descriptively illuminate, ruminate, tread, the day to day; tribulations, small pleasures, obsessive love, being a musician, impoverishment, sleeping in, lazing around, skinning up, futility, being trapped, being down, being in love, friendship, not knowing what it's all about, day time TV, throwing out bin bags and the importance of a constant supply of Strongbow, a.k.a. ordinary life. Clean, considered instrumentation, based around electric guitar, bass and drums and simple catchy melodies allow observant, cleverly constructed lyrical strength to shine, whatever the mood, high energy, reflective or maudlin, melodic punk without the cynicism, Undertones aura with merest whiff of Nirvana, crumbs of Costello and maybe a few milligrams of Monkees. " THIS IS ACTUALLY GOOD SHEEPY "ANOTHER DAY / BOBBLE HAT GIRL" (BLANG RECORDS) RELEASED? 3rd December. SOUNDS LIKE? Bear with me, no really, bear with me. This is a scouse accented, but French popped bit of shuffle beat that is, if it's anything, a hymn for Super Hans. Sheepy, allegedly a trio, wear their talent, or talents, for pop, rock and punk way too lightly and we can't bash them enough for their lack of cold hearted pragmatism any more than we can massage them with cider scented oils for their reluctance to parley a surfeit of limber limbed pop-punk-rock excellence into money, fame and all the other tumours. It's almost like Matt Dangerfield was still alive. IS IT ANY GOOD? Very and on the obligatory seven levels. WHERE IS IT? www.blang.co.uk"
"The man has a voice tailored by superior beings to slick fit hurry, scurry indie pop & punky quirk. I am listening to the title track while deforming this opinion and the opinion is this; Jilted John fights Pete Shelley. Not muchof a fight, but enough to send two bits of data flying from the ring... Luke 'Sheepy' Jones is a slick n witty bedsit troubadour, but you can guess why his nine album back catalogue has been recorded, alone, in his bedroom. This makes 'My Friends' either poignant or delusional, but seeing as it's Marc Almond drifting in to mediate between Jilted and Shelley, it makes perfect sense. Don't stop to think about it, I'm right and that's it and that's how, I suspect, those nine albums were created. IS IT ANY GOOD? Who knows, all I can tell you is that "Don't Know Much" is, despite being a snuffling, under produced demo, both a brilliant and a certain to be missed pop classic. If he has one of these on each of his nine albums, he's got a killer set in waiting. "

"Liverpool’s Sheepy produce Kinks tinged pop with distorted guitars and a sunny sound, feel good music to put a smile on your face. The two tracks featured on the EP are both evidence that Sheepy can write a good song and are ones to watch for the future."
(Get Ready To Rock, Oct 28th 2012)
"Sheepy isn't one to mess about when it comes to writing tunes. The Liverpudlian (real name Luke Jones) recorded nine albums in four years in his bedroom before being discovered playing in Ireland by London label Blang, who are now putting out his first release, the 'Predator EP'. These five tracks of classic indie-guitar songwriting indicate that there may be a big future lying in wait for him. The jaunty pop-punk buzz of the title track has a hint of ace 90s also-rans Topper in its non-stop, melodic, powerpop rush and undeniable charm. Slacker anthem 'One Cup Of Coffee' is based around a simple, reverberating guitar hook that perfectly encapsulates the feel of a lazy day lost to weed and Strongbow. 'Bread And Noodles' is early Super Furry Animals jamming with Teenage Fanclub and is all the better for it. If there are a further 8 and a half albums of these on the back-burner then the future looks bright. A superb debut and definitely a talent to keep your eye on. "
