Simon Allen was born in Portadown, Northern Ireland. Brought up on a healthy dose of music and religion. He picked up his first guitar aged 11 and used to sit in his bedroom pretending he could play all the songs he wanted to. He never much cared for playing other people's music and wrote his first song not long before his 16th birthday. He moved over to England when he was 18 and worked for a while in a Homeless Hostel before moving to Plymouth where he allegedly meant to study. But, you know what happens when you get a student loan, a guitar and a band of brothers with a similar inclination towards making tunes! He lasted 6 months before being kicked out of his student halls. Not long after Simon and his band at the time, largeman, moved to London to see the bright lights. They had bad times, they had plenty of good ones too but time came when the band ended. Simon moved to the South West again to clear his head, see some countryside and write some new songs. He met a woman with a black eye and within a year they were married. A year after that they gave birth to their first daughter. 17 months after that their second daughter came along and Team Allen was complete. Inbetween times Simon formed a trio incitefully named, The Simon Allen Trio, with James Newton and Jon Head. Good times, bad times. Simon is currently putting the finishing touches to his debut solo album, tentatively titled, 'Hundreds and Thousands'. He loves great songs and great singers. He a sucker for a sweet tune. If you want to know what he sounds like it's probably best to say that when he sings 'he's got angels on his shoulders'.
