Simon Taylor has spent most of life in the small town of Ashfield in Western Massachusetts where his immediate family resides. However, he also has strong ties to Rowe, a town famous for its now shut-down nuclear powerplant and pleasant pinic grounds. His music tends to revolve around the tensions between imagined pastoral sanctuary and the lack of true meaning in today's (or any other time's) society. How can beauty exist when individual aesthetics are predicated on empty social values? Can escape to the countryside give rise to individual imagination?
