Sleep Paralysis

Sleep Paralysis is a group from San Diego that operates as a side project of CERULEAN’s Stephen Knapp. It blends black metal with avant-garde jazz, placing it outside straightforward genre categories while still connecting to black metal and experimental metal traditions.

The name is also used by another, separate punk and grindcore band from Canton, Michigan, which forms in 2009 and begins playing shows about a year later, but the San Diego group is the act identified here. This project’s debut is Sleep Paralysis.
