LA-based, Texas-bred Jordan Richardson is Son of Stan. Playing all of the instruments on his record, Son of Stan is his solo project. He is known for his past work playing drums for Ben Harper and Ringo Star. Recently, Richardson won a Grammy in the Best Blues Album category for “Get Up,” by Ben Harper and Charlie Musselwhite; he co-produced and played drums. SOS began about two years ago and his newest record, Divorce Pop, dropped October 15th, 2013. Listening to Richardson takes you back to the good ol’ days of playing Mall Madness or Dream Phone and wishing you worked at a mall like in Fast Times at Ridgemont High. If he was Canadian instead of Texan, he’d be Robin Sparkles prom king. SOS’s electropop, dance music can make most put on their dancing shoes or at least move their hips to the beats. Seeing Jordan live is an even better experience; the energy level is out of control both on and off stage. Richardson’s voice hits every note with perfection all while he’s dancing with his guitar like it’s his favorite lady and his live drummer is thrashing at his drums like he’s at the dance party of the century.
