Sons of the Delta is a UK based blues band formed in 2002 by Mark Cole and Richard Edwards. * 2002: Sons of the Delta formed by Mark Cole (vocals, harmonica, guitar, mandolin, stomp box) and Rick Edwards (guitar, vocals) Notable performances include the Gloucester Blues and Heritage Festival
* 2003: Notable performances include the Gloucester Blues and Heritage Festival, the Upton Blues Festival and the Banbury Blues Festival.
* 2004: Debut album One For The Road released on Blues Matters label. Mark & Rick visit Mississippi for the first time to tour and record. Notable performances include the Gloucester International Blues Festival, the Maryport Blues Festival, the Great British R&B Festival (Colne), Ground Zero (Clarksdale, MS) Big T's Spot (Clarksdale, MS) and Cat Head (Clarksdale, MS)
* 2005: Mark returns to Mississippi and performs with the Myers Brothers Blues Band at the Clarksdale Juke Joint Festival and the Cat Head Minifest. Notable performances include the Gloucester International Blues Festival, the Burnley Blues Festival and Blues at the Abbey (Titchfield Abbey).
* 2006: Second album Made in Mississippi released on Rawtone Records. The album was recorded in Clarksdale Mississippi and features guest appearances by Pinetop Perkins and Sam Carr. Mark and Rick return to Mississippi and play at the Arkansas Blues and Heritage Festival at Helena, Arkansas. Other notable performances include the Butlins Rock & Blues Weekend, the Great British R&B Festival and the Gloucester International Blues Festival. Adrian Deane (bass) and Martin Fitzgibbon (drums) join the Sons of the Delta giving the band the ability to perform as a four piece band when required.
