Stark (from Alkmaar, The Netherlands)
From the mid 90’s until two years ago, Steven and Jeffrey tried to perform and write songs with Stark. Their goal was to write energetic melodic rocksongs, influenced by bands such as The Smashing Pumpkins. This turned out to be a difficult task due to the high level of band member rotation. The search for like-minded members partially halted two years ago when Laurens (bass), and a few months later, John (vocals) and Per (drums) joined Stark. From that moment on, Stark’s songs grew and the band’s search for identity and style seemed to be successful. With this complete line-up the melodic sound became more complete. This resulted in the recording of our new E.P. "Fever Trip", which reflects the sound and melody we were looking for. After finishing Fever Trip (Feb '08) we now focus on writing new songs scheduling as much live shows as possible. We hope to see you at one of our shows.

Stark are an exciting young band with their own take on the blues. Featuring Jamie Francis on plugged-in Resonator guitar, Josh Franklin on bass and Evan Carson on drums, their sound blends old and new from both sides of the Atlantic. Their unique arrangements of classic Robert Johnson and Son House numbers are winning them a dedicated and growing fan base. They also write their own highly original songs, which are getting them noticed by a host of prestigious publications, including Classic Rock, Fame, R2, Sound on Sound, Blues Matters, Blues in Britain and Time Out. They have had tracks played by Paul Jones and Huey Morgan on Radio 2, and they have appeared at top London venues, including the 100 Club and Dingwalls.
'One of the most original bands I have heard in a long while and destined for great things' – Music News
'Clearly modern, gritty but groovy' – Classic Rock
'Their sound is dirty and so tight it's waterproof' – Fame
'A sound so explosive you may just fall off your chair' - The Vinyl District,
UK Artist of the Week
'Bursting with tight, driving melodicism' – Time Out, Critic's Choice
'An unexpected joy' - R2 Magazine
'Characterised by extremely proficient musicianship and clever arrangements...
A fine record indeed' - Sound on Sound
'the lads ooze class and confidence, delivering blues in a Led Zep tinged style through Resonator guitar, clever songwriting with a modern twist.’ – Blues Matters
