Sub Rosa was created in 2006, at Betim/Minas Gerais – Brazil.
The first stable line-up was: Reinaldo Jose (bass and voice), Vinicius Mendes (guitar, keyboards, flute and voice), Junior Mansur (keyboards, guitar and voice) and Romulo Cesar (drums and voice).
This line-up recorded the demo “Sub Rosa”, with the songs “Waiting for the Sun”, “Desvendando Mistérios” and “Enslavement of Beauty”.
In 2008, this line-up started recording the debut CD, the concept album “The Gigsaw”, which was to be released december/2009, with another line-up: Reinaldo Jose (basses and voice), Barbara Laranjeira (drums and voice), Marcia Cristina (voice), Al Duarte (synths and voice), Glaydston Friederich (voice) and Igor Souza (guitars). The first gig was in March 2010, without Igor Souza on the guitar.
"The Gigsaw" is considered a phenomenon in terms of independent CDs, bypassing the selling of 6000 (six thousand) copies into less than 12 months.
In 2010, with the song 'Equinox', Sub Rosa won the 1st Festival of Independent Music of the Radio WULP (Lágrima Psicodélica) - which earned a special program on schedule, with interview and performance of the whole album “The Gigsaw”, besides having featured as "Band of the Month" at the website "Galeria Musical."
From August 2010, the album "The Gigsaw" came to be distributed by Syn-Phonic Records, from Utah / USA.
Also in 2010, the band recorded the track "Canto 26 – Canção para Vitória", part of the project of the legendary keyboardist Amyr Cantúsio Jr. with libretto by Luiz Carlos "Barata" Cichetto, the rock opera "Vitória – A Filha de Adão e Eva". For this recording, the line-up had Jayme Abreu on guitar.
The selling of "The Gigsaw" (which despite not having surpassed 1000 copies in Brazil, already knocked at the doors of 7500 copies worldwide, with more than 5000 only for the USA) drew attention and earned the opportunity to a tour of the USA East Coast. This tour took place in October 2012, from Miami to Boston, through Fort Lauderdale, Pittsburgh, Newark and New York.
This tour marked the Sub Rosa into the Rock History, for it was the third Brazilian Progressive Rock band touring the United States, and was the first Progressive Rock band in the world touring with a Punk Rock band, Ossos do Banquete.
After returning from the tour, Alexandre Salgueiro joined Sub Rosa with his keyboards, and the band started working on the second album, the double and also conceptual "11:11".
In 2012, the band played at RIO PROG FESTIVAL II - organized by Claudio Fonzi (Renaissance Records and Som Interior). In the same gig played Focus (Netherlands), Massahara (SP/Brazil), By the Pound (MG/Brazil) and Trucco (RJ/Brazil). Sub Rosa also played at the CAMPING ROCK (larger and more traditional festival of Rock n 'Roll of Minas Gerais/Brazil) , where also played Sérgio Hinds, The Invisible Opera Company of Tibet, Ladylike, Anjo Gabriel and many others.
With the joining of the singer and acoustic guitarist Katia Moura, Sub Rosa played at the Spring Festival, an event of celebration for peace and love in Ouro Preto/MG/Brazil. Thus ended the band's touring schedule for the preparation of the new album.
"11:11" is a double album with 22 songs, with a more mature Sub Rosa, bearing the legacy of progressive rock as created and perfected by The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Marillion and many others.
The current lineup includes:
Reinaldo Jose (bass and voice)
Marcia Cristina (voice and acoustic guitar)
Barbara Laranjeira (drums, percussion and voice)
Lean Lima (guitars and voice)
Alexandre Salgueiro (keyboards and voice)
Katia Moura (voice and acoustic guitar)
Jeferson Matos (guitars)
