Subajah arrived on the music scene more than 11 years ago, starting with Rap music as a member of Ineffekt a French underground rap group, and worked alongside the famous French rapper Fredy k. He is a Rastafarian which in his own words –he describes as ‘not a religion but more a way of life what we call a livity. According to me it represents two aspects: spiritualism and culture’. Since 2003, Subajah has been a member of Kultcha Militant Sound. A French sound system with three other singjays – a singjay is an artist who is a singer and a deejay (someone who makes what is called ‘toast’ -a sort of ragga /dancehall style between rap and singing). Subajah, Supa Dona, Desta and their hot selecta (this is the name for a DJ in this genre of music) Greendelroy all collaberate. Subajah considers the K.M.S his family and describes how this group have given him the positivity that he now feels within the music. He also believes in unity and equality between all human beings, and his first album ‘Hope Chant’ is described as lyrically breaking the system's chains. Now introducing the guitar into his music, Subajah has elaborated on his original musical repertoire classifying it as "larm kréyol"(Kreyol tear), he uses this term because he describes music as ‘a heart's tear’. Since the beginning of his career Subajah has built a mystical and poetic sound around an acoustic, but simple music which gives priority to emotion. Now living in the U.K Subajah is ready to promote his passion for originality and deep vibes to the music world.
