Subduction is an experimental music and performance project formed in 2008 by William Van Huss, formerly of The Luminaries, and Ian Briscoe aka Mystery Made Manifest. Their debut, "Bad News From The Inner Solar System", was recorded over the summer and fall of that year and utilizes Briscoe's homemade analog synths along with samplers, stylophone, theremin, tape loops, shortwave radio, computer, and other elements. The album was released February 2009 by Psyche Zenobia music and the Digital Meltd0wn music blog. Influences range, musically, from early pioneers of electronica such as the BBC Radiophonic Workshop to industrial and experimental artists like Psychic TV, Severed Heads, and Einstürzende Neubauten. Apart from musicians, other influences include William Burroughs cut-ups, Dadaism, science, and alchemy.
