Sugarspun

Sugarspun is an indie pop band from Manila. The group forms in 2008 and releases its first EP, Moon Candy, in 2009. Its first full-length album is planned for 2010.

Style and influences

The band draws on 1960s Britpop, 1980s new wave, shoegaze and indie pop. Its music combines melodic vocals with layered textures, using spacey synthesizers, delay-heavy guitar and rhythmic beats. The group also uses contrasting male and female voices and pairs upbeat and ambient elements in its songs.

Line-up

Sugarspun consists of bassist and vocalist Rex Padayhag, keyboardist and vocalist Abby Camaya, guitarist Mel Encarnacion and drummer Rob Uytingco.
