Better known as the vocalist for Taiwan's aboriginal bands Totem and Echo G.S., all-round Ami artist Suming has written songs for popular artists like Landy Wen and Chyi Chin. He's also a theatrical dancer, an amateur painter, a bamboo craftsman, a cultural-educational worker for his tribe, and most famously, the 2009 Golden Horse Best Newcomer Award winner for his stellar performance in the short film Hopscotch. In May 2010, Suming is releasing his first solo album entirely written and performed in the Ami language. Born in the country but bubbling with an urban sensibility, Suming's music breaks boundaries, combining seamlessly a wide range of elements from electronic pop to traditional chanting, and from folk rock to world music. An album of exotic aboriginal music will likely be an unforgettable experience for mainstream listeners.
