The Amphetameanies are a nine-piece ska band from Glasgow, Scotland. Meanies' members are: Jane (vocals), Stan (vocals), Joel (drums), John Disco (guitar), Gordy (bass), Helen (keys), Mick (trumpet), James (sax) and Lindsey (trombone). They have released two albums so far, Right Line In Nylons and Now! That's What I Call... The Amphetameanies., and numerous singles and EPs. Their latest single release (December 2009) is a double-A side of 'Good One Go' and 'Nothing's OK', two tracks drawn from the recording sessions for album number three, provisionally titled 'Revenge of the Meanies' Their next single release will be another double-A, out later this month (April 2011), 'Be Yourself' and 'Another Train', from the 'Revenge...' sessions at Belle and Sebastian's Banchory Studios, in Glasgow Prior to forming Franz Ferdinand, Alex Kapranos played guitar for the band and co-wrote their first album, and some songs that survived onto the second. When he left to conquer the world, ex-Bis guitar hero John Disco took his place. Most recently, Alex and John shared 'meanies guitar duties at a secret gig held in rural Dumfriesshire to mark Alex's birthday.
