The Attika State is a five piece musical concoction whose origins span oceans. Hailing from Sicily, Malta, Sri Lanka and Wisbech the boys formed as a product of the education system and love of live music. Influenced by everything to do with melody, the band strives to convince the minds of cynics to once again appreciate the beauty of forward thinking melodic rock and roll. Their discography so far reads: a self-released debut full length, ‘Genesis and Catastrophe’ (2005) and follow up EP ‘Leave Your Dignity At The Door’ in 2007. 2008 was made up of touring and attracting new ears. Both records and live shows collectively have been heralded as shining successes and a ‘promising sign of things to come’. Having focused on writing for the majority of 2009, their year ended in the studio with producer Dave Eringa (Manics, Idlewild, The Xcerts) fine tuning their sound and ideas into new full length ‘Measures’. Set for release this Autumn and recorded live, ‘Measures’ is a grandiose and ambitious offering that documents the ups and downs of modern life and the journey the band have taken over the past 18 months. Hitting the road this summer, armed with an arsenal of anthems, the ‘State’ is ready to immigrate back onto your iPod with a new record of prog-pop intellect to blow those cobweb blues away.
