About the album, by the band...........“Songs From The Great Atlantic Ocean”
This is a collection of our songs celebrating the wealth of music that's passed between
Scotland and North America over the last couple of hundred years.
There are nods to The Carter Family, Doc Watson, Scottish fiddle tunes transposed for
guitar and a few originals by The Hounds.
We like to think it gives an honest representation of The Hellhounds as a band. There
are a couple of tunes on it that may never be played live and a few songs that folk who
have come to see us live, will not have heard before.
This is an introduction to The Hellhounds, we have already started on our 2nd album
which will be a collection of our own original tunes and probably an old traditional
Country Blues tune or two.

What the reviewers think so far..........
“as fresh as dappled shade and a light breeze”, American UK, July 2010
“This phenomenal Scottish Country-Blues trio, have just released their new album
"Songs from The Great Atlantic Ocean". With their own unique take on Scottish
Americana, its an album worth listening to.”
Music News Scotland May 2010
“That (sort of) takes me on to what music you might want to listen to when you get home
from the pub. Let's make it interesting and suppose that you have spent the entire day in
the pub too. The Ballachulish Hellhounds start to sound like the perfect match for late
night/early morning sentimentality.
"Songs from the Great Atlantic Ocean" is the first album from this disreputable trio who
hail from various parts of dear old Scotland. Decorating a batch of traditional songs like
"Shady Grove" and "Going Back to the Blue Ridge Mountains" with some
complementary new tunes (especially the delicate and moving instrumental "From
Glencoe to Virginia") makes for a consistently good natured listening experience that is a
perfect cocktail when mixed with the remnants of strong drink.
All in all, a promising debut from a band that remain true to their musical inspiration and
one thing is for sure - they certainly don't lack charm.
