Since forming in January 2011, The Bonny Men have emerged as one of the most talked about and exciting young bands to emerge from the trad/folk scene in Ireland. Comprised of seven individual masters of their own instruments, with numerous individual national and international accolades between them, as a band The Bonny Men create a dynamic sound that captures the essence of traditional music at it’s best. The Bonny Men are: Natalie Ni Chasaide, (the only Bonny woman) on keyboard, her brother Maitiu on uilleann pipes, brothers Conor and Barry Lyons on Bodhran and Guitar, Adam Whelan on Bouzouki, Moss Landman on Flute and Turlough Chambers on Fiddle. This band have been making heads turn at festivals around Ireland, Europe and even as far away as India and Indonesia! Recent television appearances have included 'Ráisín' (TG4), 'Cuisle' (BBC) and the band were the subject of a TG4 documentary, 'Ar Thóir an Cheoil'. After the initial success of their eponymous debut album in 2011, which sat atop of the Irish Music Charts for months on end, The Bonny Men now are on the cusp of releasing their second album,'Moyne Road' - which will feature traditional tunes and all originally composed songs. This new avenue of song writing in both Irish and English gives a whole new dimension to this talented group, proving that they are equally adept with their voices as they are with their instruments.
