The disputed name of two bands: 1) The Chavs are a dirty blues rock n roll band. Formed in 2003 from members coming from Roachford, Claytown Troupe, Vice Squad and 90s Colchester band Maniac Squat, among others. Angry Sex was the band's debut and only album, and was released in 2004 on the Maniac Squat label. Since then, they have also released a single, Shock and Awe. The Chavs provided two songs, Angry Sex and Nuclear War for the soundtrack of MTV Blaggers in 2004 and the theme tune Dynamite Sting for Hotel MTV in 2005. In early 2005 the NME announced that Carl Barat from the Libertines had formed a 'supergroup' called The Chavs with Tim Burgess from the Charlatans among others. After something of a media war the original Chavs won the right to the name. 2) Formed by Ex-Libertines guitarist Carl Barat and Charlatans Front-Man Tim Burgess as a joke on a drunken Bus Trip in USA, "The Chavs" are a super-group. The original line-up consisted of Primal Scream keyboardist Martin Duffy and Razorlight drummer Andy Burrows. It now includes revolving members of The Klaxons and The Libertines. The foursome’s set includes a mix of Libertines songs, Burgess tracks and festive numbers including a cover of The Pogues’ ‘Fairytale of New York’. The Chavs have only had a handful of rehersal sessions, and have performed less than that, yet there are rumours of possible future recordings.
