There were 2 bands known as the Deep Six. 1) A folk-rock ensemble formed around 1965 in San Diego, beginning as a folk group and hastily electrifying their music as the folk-rock boom began. They released an album in 1966, including a cover of Neil Diamond's Solitary Man, some light pyschedelic/garage rock touches, and a whole lot of session musicians. The album and singles flopped ("Rising Sun" got some airplay) and the band broke up shortly afterwards. 2) Formed in Jacksonville, Fla. in the mid-1960's. Maurice Samples- Lead singer, Ted Vaughn- Drums, Billy Harden- Rhythm guitar, Larry Dreggors- Lead guitar, Ken Fuller- Bass. Single on "Soft Records"--"Last Time Around"/ B side- "One and One". Later added horns and keyboard and became "Mouse and the Boy's" and produced "Dancing to the Beat", "Love is Free" and psychedelic fav "Xcedrin Headache #69". Can be found at "mouseandtheboys.com" also on "You Tube" under Mouse and The Boys. Had overwhelmingly successful reunions in 2003 and 2005.
