The Drone Rebels are pioneers of a new sound, called ‘Party Punk Funk’. It wasn’t a conscious decision; they stumbled upon it by subtly blending beer, smoke and noise. Hailing from South East England, this five-piece band has been blowing up stages across the country for the past four years. In that time twists of fate have forced various line-up changes with the current line-up being Mikey (vocals), Drew (guitar), Simon (guitar) Mike (bass) and Luca (Drums). The Drone Rebels give your head something to think about whilst making your body lose it. You can’t help but move to their powerfully distorted and catchy rhythms. Songs like Resister, Burn Parliament and You Don't Know deal with various issues, ranging from Dishonest Western Governments, Apathy and a general distaste for some of today’s so-called popular culture. Even though the songs all have a serious edge, they are delivered in an optimistic and playful manner, leaving the listener enough room to come to their own conclusions. If none of that appeals, you can fall back on their killer beats and just dance like a fool. On the flip side, songs like Dirty Little Thing, Between the Lines, and 'Ave a-bit-a Bosh explore more colourful territories as the boys minds wander over such topics as Curb Crawling, Aliens, and the drug-like power of music. Yes, there is a lot on the minds of these Rebels and you never know where they may take you, but wherever it is you will enjoy the ride. On stage, the Rebels project their sound into the ears and minds of their audience amidst a background of sweat, noise, chaos, and more than a few laughs. Always entertaining and self-effacing, The Drone Rebels treat the stage as both a playground and a pulpit. Seeing The Drone Rebels is a refreshing live music experience, guaranteed to put a smile on your face and to get your head nodding.
