There's more than one artist by the name The Fontanas.
1. An instrumental band project of Keith Scott, Mickey Curry (both Bryan Adams compagnons) and Mark Holden from Canadian band Boulevard, founded 2009. http://www.thefontanas.com
2. The Fontanas is the production vehicle for Sam Sutton, winner of the IVCA award for Best Music on TV 2006:
Hand picked by six degrees of separation, 'The Fontanas' cut their teeth at their monthly residency at West London's Ginglik club. Winner of the PRS Best New Bands of 2007, The Fontanas is the production vehicle for Sam Sutton, winner of the IVCA award for Best Music on TV 2006. The debut album, 'Introducing The Fontanas' is a case study in musical progression, with a catalogue of tracks ranging from back-foot Brazilian grooves to funk-fuelled anthems that blow the doors off. With influences scattered across the globe, the music finds its roots in the foothills of Brazil and Jamaica, but defines its sound from its urban home in West London.
Co-writers on this debut release include Andy Hughes, founder member of the Orb, (Little Fluffy Clouds) who recently mixed the Basement Jaxx studio album and shares 'Atlantic Jaxx' studios in Brixton where 'Ska'd for Life' and 'Skank' were co-written and mixed. Also appearing on the album is vocalist Heidi Levo, who performs with The Cinematic Orchestra, Isaac Hayes and the Brand New Heavies and has released tracks on Hed kandi, Defected Records, Africanism and Eclectic Breaks, amongst many others. Ska'd for Life features cuts from Technics-DMC UK finalist DJ Gizroc, founder member of The Mixologists, whilst Mother's Love, Sunshine and Angel Maria feature co-production by Big Bossa's Simon Ashton. The list goes on, but the end result is the same - a super charged album of tracks that aims to please.
But dont take our word for it, heres what the press said...
"An orgasmic journey into these two brothers.. minds...amazing clarity of depth." Peter Flinch - Bill Board
"The way they mix brazilian and contemporary sounds is second to none, a real treat." Clair Fisher - Rolling Stone
