There are two bands called The Freeze: 1. The Freeze are a seminal punk rock band from Cape Cod, Massachusetts that came together in 1978 when they were teenagers. 2. The Freeze a punk band from Edinburgh, Scotland (1976-1981) 1. The Freeze from the USA is known for their dark lyrics, original punk rock melodies, and their longevity. A lot of their early lyrics deal with alienation, drug-use/abuse and paranoia (especially of the government and especially of the Reagan-Bush years). A constant theme or thread regarding apathetic observers or people willing to give up their freedoms for fear of losing their "security" is also apparent in their work. 2. The Freeze was an Edinburgh, Scotland punk band that lasted from 1976–1981. Wanting to do something darker and noisier, Gordon Sharp and David Clancy took ideas from The Freeze to a greater extreme; the result was the formation of Cindytalk in 1982.
