Information
You have maybe heard of the band from Los Angeles The Generators, you might have even seen one their records in a record store, or maybe you have seen someone wearing one of their T - shirts. With all that said they still might be a mystery to you, but that’s all right, and that’s why we are here to fill in the gaps for you on the band that has been named by America's leading news publication, the US News as " The most underrated punk band in America".
The Generators story actually goes way back to the late Nineteen Eighties when vocalist Doug “Dagger” Kane, & guitarist Sean Romin were pounding the pavement with their prior band Schleprock. The 2 seasoned veterans stayed out touring for eight long years supporting bands like Green Day, Rancid, Sublime, NO FX, Blink 182, The Specials, Face To Face. Wherever the action was during the commercial explosion of Punk during the nineties, Schleprock was somewhere close to be found. They took the project as far as they could, by crossing over 3 continents, and selling over 100,000 records. By 1996 They found themselves picked up by Warner Brothers Records, and became smeared all over the national radio and MTV. In early 1997 internal struggles emerged within the band, and Kane left the project behind due to creative differences. What turned out of all the insanity was even more chaos as The Generators were conceived.
The ball got rolling quickly for The Generators, and by the Summer of 1997 they already had their first album ‘Welcome To The End” released with the L.A. based Triple XXX Records. They joined a roster of bands like Social Distortion, Jane’s Addiction, Bo Didley, and many more. The band early on barnstormed across the highways of the U.S.A. and Europe, and all these years later the band is still out there tearing up the stage with their action packed live shows. They have opened up for everyone from Anthrax, Stiff Little Fingers, Bad Religion, Sepultura, Bow Wow Wow, The Damned, Tiger Army, Agnostic Front, and many more. The Generators have had their music appear on various Television & Radio commercials for The Los Angeles Lakers, the California Angels, The Corona Beer Company and in 2008 the song 30 Seconds was used for a 2 national TV commercial adds sponsoring The Grammy Awards which was viewed by over 4 million people. The bands music has also appeared on numerous Skateboarding, BMX, and Paintball Videos.
Over the course of 11 years the band has stayed truly dedicated to releasing quality, timeless recorded music, and videos so they can be heard and seen by as many people as possible. The goal and aim has always been to keep getting better, and better over time. In a little over a decade they have released 8 full – length albums, 2 EP’s, 1 split E.P. with mid west rockers Riverboat Gamblers, and appeared on scores of compilations.
The Generators have charted the American College radio charts, and continue to get played on Independent, Internet radio as well as Satellite radio stations like XM & Sirus on a monthly basis. The boys has been endorsed from numerous companies such as Lucky 13 Apparel, Dickies, Felon clothing, TUK Shoes, Electric, Draven, Tres Noir, Just Deadly, and the large list just keeps growing.
The list of achievements for The Generators keeps expanding every year. After a decade of going at it somehow seems sometimes like they are just getting started. They always manage to stay in tune with their loyal fan base, as well as staying true to what they have always done, and that is producing quality underground Rock N Roll Punk music.
In 2012 the band will be back on the run again with more US & European Tour dates. .So the next time you see The Generators name in a record store or up on a marquee at your local Rock club, just know that there are some quality, honest ass kicking individuals in there helping to make your life a little better, and desperately trying to save the face of Punk Rock.
