The Kindling started as a collaboration between songwriter and guitarist Guy Weir and drummer Leon Baker. In the autumn of 2010, influenced by the guerilla recording spirit of the likes of sparklehorse, tom waits, and mount eerie, they explored the recording possibilities of Guy’s place in the remote Kent countryside. They took Guy's late night songs, added distant harmonies from adjacent rooms, banjo, lap steel, mellotron, fireside percussion, and straightaway the results felt like old friends. Four of those tracks formed their introductory EP called ‘From Out Of The Wreckage’ released in December 2010. http://www.thekindling.info
