"The Kix are a powerful tidal wave of awesomeness. Three girls who have a reputation of being able to tame the most raucous of crowds." - 100% Biker Magazine
The Kix are an all girl rock band from South Wales, formed in the summer of 2008 by sisters Sam and Charlotte Bolderson. The girls grew up with a passion for classic rock and live music from an early age. In their teenage years, they started learning how to play the guitar and drums. After taking such a keen interest in music, it was a natural move to start playing music together. They found a local female bassist and the trio started performing at the end of 2008.
The girls quickly made a name for themselves gigging locally, winning various band competitions, and were even selectively invited to perform with the Welsh National Opera in a one off exclusive show. Word soon spread about The Kix and they were asked to perform abroad. This lead to bigger and better things. As the venues and crowds increased in size, the fan base became more significant, in Europe and the UK. Following this, the girls worked harder, and their confidence and ability grew.
The girls released original material which was fresh, yet with a classic rock twist, influenced by powerful artists such as AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Suzi Quatro and Joan Jett. Dressing head to toe in leather and lace, the classic rock era is clearly a huge inspiration, and performances always pack a punch.
In March 2012, The Kix welcomed bassist Harriet Wadeson into the band. She brought energy and instantly clicked with the girls, leading what proved to be their most productive and exciting year yet.
Highlights to date include:
• Performing to a huge crowd and headlining one of the stages at one of the UK’s biggest Motorcycle rally “The Farmyard Party”.
• Attracting media attention from ITV, who aired a mini rockumentry about the bands rising success, tipping them to be the next big all girl rock band from the UK.
• Air play on various German and Dutch radio stations as well as air play on Wales’ very own BBC Radio Wales and Nation radio to name a few.
• Regular gigs in Europe
• Write ups which speak highly of the girls performances in National magazines “100% Biker”, “Streetfighters Magazine”, “Back Street Heroes” and a double page spread in local magazine “Plugged In Magazine”.
• Features in newspapers and magazines after raising funds for various charities.
The band is highly ambitious and has spent the last few months working on new material.
The girls are currently writing an album for a release at the beginning of 2013, with hopes of a long awaited tour to promote the new material. The girls love what they do, and this is clear for all to see. Everyone they work with says they are fun to work alongside, maybe even a little crazy! But through this, they always maintain a professional attitude beyond their years. Their big personalities come across on and off stage. There’s a gap in the market for a new all girl rock band from the UK, The Kix want to do all they can to fill that gap.
