Formed in 2006, the Leonard Jones Potential have been responsible for filling dance floors across the country for the last few years. With a tight rhythm section providing hip shaking grooves, accompanied by the screaming Hammond of Captain Keys, tight harmonies of The Bad Ass Brass and the Power House Vocals of Meeshelle Newell, the LJP really know how to tear the roof off. Taking influences from original funk legends, such as The Meters, Kool &The Gang and Charles Wright & The 103rd Street Rhythm Band, through to modern funk heavyweights such as Speedometer, The Bamboos and The Haggis Horns, The LJP’s sound is an authentic, fresh journey into funk that will be sure to get you moving.
The LJP have a CV which reads; House band for the Ironworks’ 'New Soul City' club night, main stage act at Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival, Edinburgh Jazz Bar guests and live session guests on 'The Craig Charles Funk & Soul Show' to name a few. In July 2012, the LJP were invited to join the Brand New Heavies to play for Carl Cox’s private 50th birthday party in Brighton. The LJP were fronted by guest singer sensation Laura Vane of Laura Vane & The Vipertones.
